I made my own buns with whole wheat flour and pumpkin meat filling. After steaming, the outer skin of the steamed bun is soft and full of filling, with the sweet and glutinous taste of pumpkin. It is salty and delicious, healthy and nutritious.

Steps to make Black whole wheat pumpkin meat buns

  • 1. Mix flour, whole wheat flour, white sugar, and yeast.
  • 2. Add an appropriate amount of water and knead into a smooth dough. Cover with a damp cloth and let it ferment in a warm place.
  • 3. Chop the sandwich meat finely, add salt, soy sauce, and oyster sauce and mix well.
  • 4. Wipe the pumpkin into shreds.
  • 5. Cut finely.
  • 6. Cut the scallions finely.
  • 7. Mix pumpkin, chopped scallions, minced meat, and garlic to form a filling.
  • 8. The fermented dough has a volume 2.5 times larger than the original, and when torn open, there are dense bubbles in the dough.
  • 9. Take out the dough and place it on a cutting board, knead and exhaust, then cut it into small pieces (about 35g).
  • 10. Flatten and roll into thin circular pieces with a thick center and thin edges.
  • 11. Put pumpkin meat filling on top, wrap it into buns, and try to add as much filling as possible. When the pumpkin is raw, it will appear more abundant, but when cooked, it will become soft and collapse.
  • 12. Complete everything.
  • 13. Cover with corn leaves and put them in a steamer for a second time. Steam the steamed buns in cold water when they become bigger and lighter.
  • 14. Boil the water and steam for 15 minutes, then turn off the heat and steam for 5 minutes. Open the lid.
  • 15. The noisy and soft big buns, filled with filling, carry the sweet and glutinous taste of pumpkin, and are salty and delicious.
